Description
Sailor has owned this GT version for years, but used it during the summer and autumn hikes. Peyman has tested this tent indoors/ basically it is the exact same tent as Keron3, GT model just has extra vestibule. Our review is mainly about Keron 3 without GT. Keron 3 was the tent we used during our winter skiing challenge from North Cape to Rovaniemi during the winter 2025.
Pros: This is a strong tunnel tent which is perfect tent for winter trips if you go above the treeline where you expect high wind. Durable and well made.
Easy to set up in winter even if you are alone and it has enough space for 2 people. We don’t recommend this tent for 3 people specially during winter trip, because during winter you have more gears inside. Having 2 entrances with opposite openings is great because always one of the doors is not exposed to the wind. This tent has a vestibule which is nice to dig hole there for your fit and sit there and cook or pack the sledge or store gear etc. You have possibility to use a double pole if you need to. Hilleberg has a good customer service.
Cons: heavier than Keron 3, More expensive than Keron 3. Footprint is bigger than in Keron 3, which means if you need to dig a place for the tent in snow, you need to dig a bigger place. It is harder to find that big flat space if you end up using the tent in the forest during autumn, spring or summer. Hilleberg’s own snow stakes are not so good so we recommend getting another ones or making your own snow stakes. The zipper for ventilation is too small and gets frozen and it is impossible to open or close it during winter if you don’t have an opportunity to melt the zipper once in a while.
Tips: For winter, we highly recommend carrying the tent in a tent bag where you can leave half of the poles inside the tent and there is no need to completely pack the tent. Below is the link to Fijellpulken’s tent bag which we used it and it was very well made (affiliate link):
